Swivel has two separate concepts when it comes to spin volume: company-level limits and per-user trigger credits. Understanding the difference is important for managing your team's recognition activity.

Company limits

There is no company-wide limit on spins. You can run as many spins as you want across your workspace — there's no daily or weekly cap at the organization level. Swivel is designed to support high-frequency recognition without artificial throttling.

Tip

Running more spins = more recognition moments for your team. Don't hold back — use Swivel as often as there's a win worth celebrating.

Per-user limits

While the company has no cap, individual users do have a limit on how many times they can trigger a spin per week. By default, each user gets 2 trigger credits per week.

It's important to understand the distinction:

  • Spinning (being nominated) — A user being spun for. This is unlimited. Anyone can receive a spin as many times as your team wants to recognize them.
  • Triggering (initiating a spin) — A user starting a spin for someone else. This uses trigger credits and is limited to 2 per week per user by default.

This distinction prevents any single user from flooding the channel with spins, while still allowing unlimited recognition from admins and automations.

Changing the limit

Admins can adjust the trigger credit limit for any user:

  1. Go to Settings > Users
  2. Find the user you want to update
  3. Click Edit Swivel Allowance
  4. Set a new weekly trigger limit and save

You can set it to 0 (user cannot trigger any spins) or increase it significantly for team leads who run regular recognition sessions.

Important

If a spinner is set to admin-only mode, regular users cannot trigger it regardless of their allowance. Allowance only applies to spinners that allow user-triggered spins.
