Swivel Points are an in-app currency that users accumulate from spins and redeem for rewards off-platform — through your existing rewards store, swag vendor, or whatever system your team uses. When you fulfill a redemption, you need to deduct the corresponding points from the user's Swivel balance to keep everything in sync.

Note

Swivel Points is a beta feature. Make sure it's enabled in Settings > Personalization before using this flow. See How to Use Swivel Points for setup details.

How to deduct points

1

Go to Settings > Users

Open the Swivel app and navigate to Settings, then click the Users tab.

2

Find the user

Locate the team member whose points you need to deduct from the user list.

3

Click Redeem Points

Click Redeem Points next to their name to open the redemption dialog.

4

Enter the amount and save

Enter the number of points to deduct and save. The points are immediately deducted and the transaction is logged in the user's reward history.

When to use this

Use the Redeem Points flow any time you've fulfilled a reward off-platform:

  • You've ordered a gift through your rewards vendor and the item has shipped
  • You've processed a payout or store credit through your swag platform
  • You've fulfilled any reward that corresponds to points the user has earned in Swivel

Deducting points after fulfillment keeps the user's Swivel balance accurate and prevents over-redemption.

Admin vs user redemptions

How this flow works depends on the redemption setting you've configured in Settings > Personalization > Swivel Points:

If user redemption requests are enabled

Users submit redemption requests themselves through the Redeem button on their home tab. Each request creates an admin action item in the Reward Management tab. After you fulfill the reward off-platform, mark the action item complete — the points are deducted automatically.

If user redemption requests are disabled

Users don't see a Redeem button. Admins monitor balances proactively and deduct points manually via the Redeem Points flow described above after fulfilling rewards through your off-platform system.

Tip

Enabling user-initiated redemption requests reduces back-and-forth and gives users more ownership over their rewards. It also creates a clear paper trail in Swivel for every redemption your team processes.
